Manchester Animation Festival Theme Tune

I was honored to be approached by the festival directors to compose the festival theme music.  The theme needed to be fun, energetic, inspiring and say ‘animation’.  I like to think that the music describes the day in the life of an animated worker bee and I have tried to pay homage to the famous Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s ‘Flight of the Bumblebee’.

The festival lasted for three days; packed full with screenings of animated shorts, workshops, feature films, discussion panels and masterclasses, concluding with an award ceremony on Thursday 19th November, hosted by legendary Animator/Director Barry JC Purves.

For all of you like me who are reminiscing about the Manchester Animation Festival –  I hope this short musical piece will help conjure up some happy festival memories.  It was great seeing so many familiar faces from the animation world and so many new people too!

With such a great dedicated and passionate team behind it, an outstanding venue in Manchester and so much support and interest from universities and industry I am sure this new festival could become a central hub to UK animation.
